Chef’s Choice: Prawn Korma

By Aug 18, 2019 Chef's Choice

The full name of the Chef’s Choice of the week is Mild Prawn Korma with Hidden Fruit and Veg. So, which fruit and veg did we hide in it? And why?

Children – and why not adults as well – can sometimes get fussy with vegetables and fruit. All the Hello Chef staff members that have kids, know this as well as anyone. We’ve all been there!

That is why we constantly try to come up with ways to hide some healthy stuff in foods that the kids usually enjoy. Of course, those ingredients bring a lot of flavour in the food, too – so it’s not all about health. We want the parents to enjoy their dinners as much as their kids, without cooking two separate dishes!

One of the hacks that actually work (at least most of the times) is chopping or grating the vegetables into the food. That way they will blend with the other ingredients, and the kiddos will never notice that they are eating two or three of their fives a day in one sitting.

This time we’re chopping and grating a generous amount of onion and apple into this Korma curry. And let us tell you, that prep time does not go to waste. The end result is divine!

The preparation is very straight forward. One pot for the rice, one pan for the Korma. You know the drill. The time spent standing in front of the stove is less than 15 minutes.

Then it’s off to the dinner table, hopefully watching everyone devour this beautiful dish. Be sure to save some for yourself as well!

Flavours from Indonesia, India, the Mediterranean, Mexico…

What else is good next week?

Feeling a bit heavy after the summer holidays? Take a look at this week’s selection, and choose based on the nutritional information. For example, the Salmon Caesar Salad with Crispy Capers is a winner!

We bet that the whole family will enjoy Cheat’s Chicken Kiev with Mash and Green Beans. In this recipe you don’t stuff the chicken breasts with garlic butter – you drizzle them with it instead!

We’ve had the Sea Bass and Prawns in Lemon Butter Sauce with Basil Vegetables on the menu once before, and the ones who selected it, loved it! We highly recommend to transform an ordinary evening into an extraordinary date night. Reserve a glass or two of your favourite white grape to the side!

Whether you are strictly vegan or just wanting to go vegan some days of the week, opt for the Vegan Minestrone with Pesto or the Palak Tofu with Basmati Rice. Both dishes are hearty and satisfying – you won’t go hungry!

Have a happy, healthy, delicious week of eats!
