Chef’s Choice: The Ultimate Vegan Burger

We are always super excited about our Chef’s Choices, but this week our excitement has reached a new level. Let’s just say this: when you take a bite of this big boy, you’ll know why we’re calling it The Ultimate Vegan Burger.

The patty comes from an inspiring company called Beyond Meat, a Los Angeles based start-up (gone viral). The Beyond Meat patty is entirely plant-based: made from peas, coconut oil and beetroot extract. It’s also gluten-free, gmo-free and soy-free. You can fry it or grill it exactly like a mince beef patty, and it actually is at its best when cooked to “medium”.

The patty has won many awards, just lately the Gulf-Food Award as the Best innovative Product in 2019. If you want to see how the future of protein tastes, choose this Gourmet Recipe of the week in your Choice Box.

Roll some maki, glaze a block of tofu, roast ratatouille veggies, flip quesadillas…

What else is good next week?

Go vegetarian or vegan for two days a week this time! Our low-carb Eggplant Tempeh Pizza Bake is a cheesy treat. The Quesadillas with Black Beans and Roasted Roots are cheesy as well, but they come with a lovely Coco Yogo vegan mozzarella.

Have the catch of the day on Monday. Choose either Pan Fried Salmon with Green Pea Quinoa and Basil Pesto or Baked Seabream with Yellow Cashew Nut and Lemon Rice.

Our chicken dishes of the week are beautifully varied. We love the comforting Mexican Style Chicken Stuffed Sweet Potatoes. And the low-carb Spicy Chicken Fried Cauliflower and Peanut “Rice” will have you packing for your next trip to Asia.
