Eating out healthy – 3 Unconventional Tips

By Jun 25, 2018 Foodie

It’s summertime, and many of us are off to vacations. Among other things, that means more eating out!

If you don’t want to buy new bigger pants after this summer holiday, here are 3 amazing tips on how to stay healthy when dining at restaurants.

Alert! These suggestions might be on the unconventional side!

1. Don’t be afraid of the fast food chains

I know, they are bad for you. Or is it really so? Nowadays all the “serious” restaurants have a trend of making gourmet burgers with brioche buns, tons of cheeses, bacon, and all the goodies. Those restaurant burgers, no matter how gourmet, are much heavier than the small ones that we get from the more traditional fast food chains. If you end up eating a few times in a fast food restaurant, have a large salad AND the smallest burger. That way you’ll get the taste of sin, while still staying on the healthy side.

2. Try intermittent fasting

We talked about this trendy diet in one of our earlier posts. Summertime might be a good time to give it a try. Just think about it this way: you can have restaurant dinners with your friends and family, and when you do, you don’t have to order a salad. Just order whatever you want! As long as you fast from late evening to next afternoon (that makes a 16-20 hour fast). During the day, black coffee, tea, plain water and plain sparkling water are allowed. Good luck!

3. Listen to your body and soul

What, no calorie counting, no asking for the dressing on the side, no side salad instead of potatoes? Summer holiday is the perfect time to quiet down all the unnecessary dieting noice, and let go of the constant desire to control everything. Just listen to your hunger and satiety signals, and choose whatever your heart (and body) desires. Eat mindfully, enjoying every bite to the fullest.

Happy summer days!
