Good news: Our seafood now has a longer shelf life!

We’ve been working hard to source a sustainable aquaculture brand that can offer a longer shelf-life for the seafood in our meal kits. Some of you may have already noticed, but we’ve now sourced such a brand – and you can see it for yourself in your next Hello Chef box!
We’re delighted to announce that we have partnered with ASMAK, a leading provider of fresh and frozen seafood across the Middle East.
From this week, all fish produce in your boxes will be ASMAK-branded – with a shelf life of up to 9 days. Specifically, cod and prawns will have a much-improved expiry date of up to 5 days, while salmon, seabream, tuna steaks and seabass will now last up to 9 days.
What makes ASMAK’s produce so long lasting?
The brand uses ‘skin packaging’ technology, which greatly extends shelf life without the use of gas. This packaging solution entails sealing the product by wrapping film around it like an invisible skin, thus obtaining a fresh, natural looking package. The product maintains its shape and freshness due to the high vacuum conditions and the high-quality materials that are used to create an effective barrier, guaranteeing an extended shelf-life.
