Holiday blues? Travel through food with our international dishes

By Sep 6, 2021 Recipes

Whether you managed to jet off on vacation this summer or enjoyed the holidays here in the UAE, if the September blues are in full swing – look no further. As we countdown the days until the next time we’re escaping on a lazy beach break or bustling city escape, why not enjoy the best of your favourite holiday destinations from the comfort of your own kitchen?

In recent weeks, we have been adding a wealth of dishes to our menu that fall under the category of “international favourites.” These are recipes that, based on our research with our international customer base, show off some of the signature flavours that represent their home country. So, whether you spot a dish below that brings you a nostalgic taste of home, or instead transports you to your next bucket list holiday destination, we’re sure you’re going to love this new collection just as much as we do.

South African Bobotie – Spiced Beef with Golden Topping

This popular South African dish is made up of curried minced beef and an egg-based, golden topping. While it takes slightly longer to prepare than our typical recipes, we can’t get enough of the hearty and comforting result!

Canadian Chicken Poutine Gravy and Cheesy Fries with Garlic Cabbage

Poutine is a staple of Canadian cuisine, and typically includes three ingredients: fries, gravy and cheese. We’ve topped our version with pulled chicken and added a side of garlic cabbage to elevate this dish from an indulgent snack to a great midweek meal!

Aussie Chicken Parma with Chips and Salad

Italy’s chicken parmigiana is known as chicken parm, parma or parmi in Australia and is a classic crowd pleaser. It is found in pubs across the country, and we hope our version pays homage to our Aussie customers!

French Ratatouille with Grilled Chicken and Feta

Ratatouille is a traditional, budget-friendly vegetable stew from Nice, France. Despite its humble origins, the tomatoey stew is famous all over the world. Transport yourself to a French vineyard and envisage eating this overlooking rolling hills – we find it helps with the holiday blues!
