World Pizza Day: Recipes & recommendations from Hello Chef staff

In case you needed an excuse to enjoy a takeout from your favourite pizza joint this week, Tuesday 9 February marks World Pizza Day. So whether you enjoy yours heaped with toppings or you prefer the classic margarita, there’s no better reason to dig into your most loved flavour combo. In the spirit of the celebration, we asked Hello Chef staff members to give us the low-down on all things pizza – from their best and worst toppings, to where they’d go for the best pizza in Dubai.

Anchovies, olives, truffle, garlic and plenty of cheese!

Nightmare pizza toppings?

Broccoli – it shouldn’t be anywhere near a pizza!

Your first memory of pizza? 

My Dad is an expert when it comes to pizza, and I’ll always remember being in the kitchen with him as a child and making pizzas from scratch.

Favourite spot for pizza in Dubai?

Bussola at The Westin Mina Seyahi – I love their sardines! The truffle pizza at Pinza is also one of my favourites.

Favourite pizza toppings?

Aubergine, sundried tomatoes and wild garlic pesto. I worked with a pizza company in the UK whilst I was studying and they gave me a free pizza every week – I got the same one every time!

Nightmare pizza toppings?

Any pizza without cheese – it’s just wrong.

Your first memory of pizza?

School canteen rectangles of pizza… it’s only got better from there!

Favourite spot for pizza in Dubai?

My favourite pizza in Dubai is any pizza made with Hello Chef’s brand new ready to roll dough! Stay tuned for more on this next month…

Fighting over the takeaway menu on a Friday night at home with the family. Time would stand still until the food arrived!

Jamie’s Pizzeria by Jamie Oliver. Awesome sourdough bases (thin, of course) with super fresh ingredients.
