Spice sachets

Revealed: The new eco-friendly addition to your Hello Chef box

By Jun 16, 2020 Announcement

Have you noticed something different about your latest Hello Chef box?

One of our top priorities is making sure your ingredients arrive fresh and safe in the most environmentally responsible packaging available. As part of that mission, our team is committed to developing and sourcing fully recyclable and compostable materials for our boxes.

Earlier this month, many of you may have noticed a change in our spice packaging – and we are pleased to announce that our brand-new spice sachets are just the beginning of our latest sustainability initiative.

Critical to enhancing the flavour of many of our dishes, you can now expect to find sachets containing 2 to 5 grams of our must-have spices in every box. The sachets are perfectly portioned for each recipe, and replace the small plastic containers that were previously used.

Though currently limited to our 12 most-used spices, such as garam masala, brown sugar, chilli flakes and paprika, we’re excited to add more to the growing list and eventually eliminate the use of plastic containers in spice packaging altogether.

While much of the plastic that we use is recyclable (you can find out more information on our recycling programme here), we know that we can do more to contribute to the global effort in protecting the environment.

But this is only the beginning. We can’t wait to share more with you on the eco-friendly initiatives that we’re working on. Stay tuned!
