Staff Passion: Janelle has Big News

This week we’re putting a face to a (perky!) voice on the Hello Chef phone. Janelle Mangapis, 33, has become an icon of the company to many of our customers. Please read her story until the end., because we’re giving Janelle the honour to share some big BIG news!

Before joining Hello Chef, Janelle developed her perfect English in a call center in the Philippines. For 10 years she took calls from clients in the US, Australia and UK.

Now Janelle handles all Hello Chef phone calls, emails, Facebook and Instagram messages, and webpage live chats. This is how she sees it:

“I’m the eyes and ears of our clients. My job is to make sure that questions are answered, and any issues are solved.”

The most frequently asked question from a new client is: how does Hello Chef service work? Do we deliver ready made dishes?

“And the answer is: no, we don’t. We deliver ingredients and recipes to your door, and help you enjoy cooking healthy food.”

Once a customer gets acquainted with the service, Janelle often enjoys receiving positive feedback.

“Our customers like the quality of the ingredients: it’s better and fresher than in supermarkets. They also love the convenience: you just come home, prep and cook”, Janelle says.

“Tasty, delicious, nutrient rich. Those are the words that I hear often.”

Needless to say, hearing those words is the best part of Janelle’s work.

“It’s wonderful helping people to be more organized, to eat more healthy, and to be proud of what they have cooked.”

Janelle has worked for Hello Chef for a year, and during that time she has learned a lot about food cultures, regional and seasonal dishes, and different ingredients.

“For example, cheeses! I’m a cheese addict”, Janelle laughs. “I used to know cheddar and parmesan, that was it! Now I know so many. Sometimes I go to the Hello Chef kitchen and so some taste tests.”

Okay, so finally: it’s time for the big news Janelle is very excited about, as well as everyone else in Hello Chef.

At the end of September Hello Chef is going to launch a new box called The Choice Box. Customers will be able to customize their own box from 16 weekly recipes. Hello Chef will put all the Low-Carb, Family and Vegan recipes, plus a new Gourmet recipe, in one list.

“This improvement is made based on the feedback from our customers. They want more choices,  more flexibility. The Choice Box will provide that.”

Customers can choose, for example, one meaty main, one fish dish, one pasta, and one vegan dinner to their customized Choice Box. Also, pescatarians and vegetarians will be better catered. They can freely choose vegan, vegetarian and fish recipes according to their preferences.

People with allergies will also have easier time choosing 4 weeknight meals from collection of 16 recipes.
