Following the exciting launch of our brand-new feature, Tips for Kids, here’s a sneak peek at the upcoming recipes to watch out for if you are cooking for kids.

Weekly Menu: 25th August – 31st August

Cheesy Fried Eggs over Nacho Sweet Potato Hash with Pico de Gallo & Smoky Crema

This veggie dish has it all. It’s under 610 calories per serving yet doesn’t skimp on the good stuff (we’re talking eggs, cheese, potatoes…) If cooking for kids, go easy on the spices, fry their egg without the cheese and plate the potatoes, peppers, tomatoes and egg separately.

Chicken Breast in Creamy Mushroom Sauce with Garlic Mashed Potato

Did someone say wholesome low calorie supper? Yes please! If cooking for kids, serve the chicken, mash and plain mushrooms separately, and the sauce to the side.

Crispy Chickpea and Hummus Fatteh with Pistachios

If you’re new to fatteh, think of it as a Levantine tumble made with crispy bread and, well, whatever else you fancy! If cooking for kids, go easy on the spices and keep a portion of the flatbread plain. Then, plate the flatbread, tomatoes, cucumber and chickpeas separately with the hummus, pomegranate molasses and pistachios on the side.

Weekly Menu: 1st September – 7th September

Pan-fried Steak with Roasted Balsamic Vegetables

This dish brings a twist on classic French flavours to the table, and is not one to miss. If cooking for kids, separate a portion of the vegetables on the baking tray and cook without the balsamic vinegar, brown sugar and tomato paste. Cook the steak to your child’s preference, then plate the sliced steak and vegetables separately, and serve some of the basil on the side as “sprinkles”.

Peri-peri Chicken with Spicy Rice and Peas

While peri-peri is in fact a type of chilli, the name has become synonymous with spicy grilled chicken. But don’t let that put you off when selecting your upcoming family meals. If cooking for kids, simply keep a portion of the chicken aside when marinating and season it only with salt. Keep the chilli flakes aside as a garnish to add to your own plate when serving, and remove a portion of the peas before adding in the herbs. Watch Olivia serve this recipe for kids.

Weekly Menu: 8th September – 14th September

Chicken Tinga Tacos with Pico de Gallo and Guacamole

These easy chicken tacos are guaranteed to be a hit with the whole family. If cooking for kids, keep a portion of the tomatoes aside when preparing the salsa, and keep some coriander as “sprinkles” for your child’s plate. Remember to go easy on the spice, too!

Greek Beef Koftas with Sweet Potato Fries and Tzatziki

Koftas are a family of meatball dishes found in the Middle East, traditionally made with minced meat and spices. If cooking for kids, go easy on the spices when preparing the koftas, or set aside a portion of the mince and keep them plain. When plating, serve the koftas, then add the sweet potato fries, yogurt and cucumber separately.
